As a rainforest native, Philodendron Brasil grows well in warm, humid environments. You should provide your Philodendron with added humidity to promote foliage growth and keep your plant in temperatures between 65-80 degrees. A humidifier would be best, but a pebble tray will also work to help increase the humidity levels. You should never expose your Philodendron to temperatures below 60 degrees, as this may cause permanent damage.

You should repot your Philodendron every two years or whenever roots are seen sticking out of the drainage holes of its container. Select a pot that is 1-2 inches larger than the previous container. Repot your plant, refresh the soil, tamp lightly, and water thoroughly. Place your freshly potted plant in indirect light to become reestablished.

As Philodendron Brasil is considered a fast grower, it will likely need periodic pruning to keep its growth manageable. Pruning should be done in spring or summer during active growth. In addition, pruning will encourage fuller growth and longer leaves. 

Philodendron Brasil Propagation

To propagate Philodendron Brasil, use sharp, clean scissors, take stem cuttings that are 4-5 inches long. Cut right before a node and be sure to include a few nodes in the cutting. Each cutting should have several leaves. Remove the bottom few leaves until only 2-3 leaves are remaining. Place the cuttings into water and place them in indirect light. Within a month, you should see white roots sprouting. After the roots have become at least 1 inch long, they should be potted into their own containers. Keep the cuttings moist until well established, about two weeks.

The most common cause of yellowing leaves when it comes to Philodendron Brasil is due to overwatering. Ensure that you do not overwater your plant and that it is not allowed to sit in excess water within its drainage tray.

When the foliage of this Philodendron turns brown, it can be due to several factors. Typically, it is due to having overly dry indoor conditions. However, it may also be due to too much direct sunlight, causing burnt leaves. Alternatively, it could be due to a lack of watering.
