Philodendron White Knight Soil

The White Knight Philodendron will do best if grown in an airy, well-draining mix. You may create your own perfect Philodendron soil by selecting a quality commercial potting mix and adding incorporations of perlite, orchid bark, and compost.  

Philodendron White Knight Fertilizer

Philodendron White Knight should be fed with a balanced, liquid fertilizer monthly during the warm growing season of spring and summer. Ensure that you follow all label instructions and do not overfeed. You will not need fertilizer for a Philodendron White Knight during late fall and winter, as this may lead to overfertilization, which can lead to chemical damage due to chemical burn. 

Philodendron White Knight Watering

Your White Knight Philodendron will prefer to be kept well-watered and have moist soil at all times. However, you should not oversaturate your plant’s soil with water, as this may lead to root rot. You should rewater your Philodendron after the top inch of the soil has dried. Watering frequency may be reduced in winter. Avoid overwatering your White Knight Philodendron or allowing it to sit in excess drainage water within the plant container’s drainage tray. 

Philodendron White Knight Light Requirements

Philodendron White Knight will require bright indirect light in order to thrive and maintain its beautiful variegation without fading. However, too intense of direct sunlight will cause this Philodendron to scorch quite easily. Indirect, bright sunlight, such as from an eastern or western window, will be perfect for this Philodendron. 

Philodendron White Knight Temperature & Humidity

The White Knight Philodendron will require bright, indirect light in order to thrive. You should strive to keep your Philodendron between 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit during the daytime and between 55-65 degrees Fahrenheit at night. However, you should never allow your Philodendron to be exposed to temperatures below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, as this may cause permanent damage. For this plant to grow at its best, it should be kept at humidity levels above 70%. Consider buying a humidifier or adding a pebble tray. 

Repotting Philodendron White Knight

As the growth rate of the White Knight Philodendron is so dependent on its growing environment, the rate at which it will need to be repotted is variable. Whenever you see its roots poking out of its container’s drainage holes or appear on the soil’s surface, you will know it needs to be repotted. Select a container that is 1-2″ larger than the previous. Repotting should be done in spring. 

Philodendron White Knight Maintenance & Pruning

The White Knight Philodendron will not require much in the way of pruning. Periodically remove any dead, diseased, or discolored foliage using sharp, clean, shears. 

Philodendron White Knight Propagation

Philodendron ‘White Knight’ may be easily propagated through stem cutting. Cut a stem an inch below a node using sharp, clean shears to take a cutting. Place the stem into water, removing any lower leaves to ensure no foliage is submerged. The aerial root should be submerged underwater. After roots become 1-2″ long, plant them in soil, water thoroughly, and place in indirect light.

Unfortunately, the White Knight Philodendron is considered toxic due to its calcium oxalate crystal content. Do not consume any portion of this plant.

The White Knight Philodendron is considered toxic to cats and dogs. Do not allow your pet to consume any portion of this plant. However, in the event you believe your pet has ingested this plant, contact your veterinarian or animal poison control.
